Mary Grogan Soccer Tournament Volunteers

Mary Grogan Soccer Complex, a 42-acre community park that hosts 20 to 25 soccer tournaments every year. The Grogan Complex hosts everything from local tournaments to international tournaments and collegiate showcases. Tournaments typically take place on weekends and bring thousands of players, spectators and families into Modesto.


The July 2013 opening of this park fulfilled a long-standing need in our community for more soccer fields. As shown in the illustration below, the park has seven fields.  Three of the fields are synthetic turf, and the entire complex is lighted.

Volunteer Duties 

Volunteer assignments depend on the size and duration of the tournament.

Volunteers will be assisting with the below tasks: 

  • Greet spectators
  • Monitor gates
  • Trash pick-up
  • Field set-up
  • Rover (walk around the complex to ensure all complex rules are being followed)

Volunteer Needs

  • 2 to 4 volunteers are needed on all tournament weekends
  • Space is limited.
  • Two volunteer shifts
    • 8:00 AM through 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM through 4:00 PM
    • Volunteers can only work one shift per day.
  • All volunteers must turn in a signed volunteer waiver upon arrival.
  • There are no volunteer opportunities at this time.
