Project Summary
The City of Modesto Public Works Solid Waste Division provides leadership and coordination in the implementation of the Blight Abatement Strategy and the various divisions involved within.
Project Description
In 2019, Solid Waste assisted the City Manager’s Office in the development of a Blight Abatement Strategy that outlines collaboration between Solid Waste, Neighborhood Preservation, Police, Parks, and private organizations to limit blight, improve neighborhoods, increase public/private partnerships, and provide public education and outreach.
Solid Waste manages litter abatement through partnerships with organizations that assist homeless and at risk for homelessness individuals (Camp 2 Home, Ready to Work, and Downtown Streets Team). Solid Waste also coordinates the newly launched Blight Abatement Advisory Committee, that provides community input on City blight programs.
