Services contracted by the homeowner must be approved by the City prior to service, and will be the financial responsibility of the homeowner. All vendors shall have a current City of Modesto business license, insurance approval, and proper permits in place in order for a homeowner to retain their services for work on a City tree.

- If your tree has been signed up and approved for removal, you may contact a vendor from the approved provider list (vendor list).
- If you have a stump that you want removed (at property owner expense)
- Contact a vendor from the approved provider list (vendor list).
- If you want mistletoe and dead wood removed (at property owner expense)
- Contact a vendor from the approved provider list (vendor list).
- If you want roots cut
- Contact the Community Forestry Division at 209-342-2253 to request root cutting.
- If you want your tree pruned (at property owner expense)
- Contact a vendor from the approved provider list (vendor list).
- If you experience dripping, sticky substance on your vehicles or sidewalks directly beneath your tree, or noticeable pests
- Contact the Community Forestry Division at 209-342-2253 to request a pest inspection.
- If you would like to plant a new tree (at property owner expense)
- Contact a vendor from the approved provider list (vendor list).
- If the homeowner intends to replant a tree with the same species that has been removed there is no need to get prior approval.
- If the homeowner wants to replace a tree with an alternate species, the tree must be approved by City staff. Tree species will be dependent on property location and size. Contact the Community Forestry Division at 209-342-2253 to determine a list of approved trees for your site.
