How to Enroll

The City of Modesto partners with MJC Community Lifelong Learning to offer Backyard Composting Classes to local residents. The classes are free for all Modesto residents. The fee for non-residents is $35. Two classes are offered each spring and fall. Participants will receive a certificate of completion for $5 off a backyard compost bin purchased through the City of Modesto.

Purchase Compost Bin

The Earth Machine backyard compost bins are available for purchase from the City of Modesto for $39 plus tax (Save $5 by registering for the Composting Class). Bins may be purchased at the Utility Billing Office:
