1. How do I apply for a Business License?

Business License applications are located on our website.  You may also get an application by visiting our office located at 1010 10th Street in Modesto on the second floor suite 2100.

2. What do I need to open a business in the City of Modesto?

All businesses doing business in the City of Modesto require proper identification, an application and to pay the prorated taxes and fees required depending on the type of business.

3. What attachments do I provide when renewing my business license?

These are the forms that would need to be attached to your business license renewal depending on the type of business.  These forms should be filled out, saved to your device and uploaded to the online renewal portal.  

Subcontractor Adjustment List (PDF)

This form is for General Contractors to adjust the amounts paid to a licensed sub-contractor.  General Contractors must fill this form out and attach it to their renewal to be allowed this adjustment.

Apportionment Worksheet (PDF)
