The Street Division is responsible for maintaining the City’s streets, alleys, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. We strive to provide a safe an efficient travel system for vehicles, bikes and pedestrians utilized by visitors alike.
The Curbs, Gutters, and Sidewalks Unit is responsible for repairing damage to public sidewalks, curbs and gutters that have been damaged by City trees or City utilities.

The Traffic Engineering Division designs traffic signals and provides traffic signal timing and coordination. Staff also investigates and responds to citizen inquiries regarding traffic related issues and maintains a City-wide accident database.
Tagging is a crime that has long-lasting impacts on the community. Beyond the blight, tagging can quickly attract other tagging vandals (Taggers), accelerating crime in those areas. A "tag" is any mark of graffiti, from scratch marks to markers and paint.

Modesto’s Forestry Division takes care of the City’s extensive urban forest. This includes all of the City’s street and park trees, as well as the trees outside government buildings.
