The City of Modesto owns and operates two historical properties, the McHenry Mansion and the McHenry Museum. Both facilities are open to the public three days a week, excluding observed City holidays and scheduled closures. Admission is free.

- McHenry Mansion: Friday, Sunday and Monday, 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM
- McHenry Museum: Friday thru Sunday, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
The McHenry Mansion offers guided tours of one of Modesto’s original Victorian homes, showcasing elegant 19th century architecture, furnishings, and the legacy of the McHenry family. Guests can explore daily life in the Victorian era through docent-led tours and seasonal and special events.
The McHenry Museum, located just across the street, provides engaging exhibits on Modesto’s rich local history. Services include educational programs, research assistance, permanent and temporary exhibitions, and interactive special events.
