1. How do I update my Business address?

When a customer updates their Business address, they will need to fill out a Notice of Information Change Form (PDF). If the business has moved to a residential address, a Home Business Permit and Agreement (PDF) is also required.  

If the business will still be inside the city limits, there is a five dollar ($5) fee for changing the Business address.  There is no fee for the Business address change if moving outside the city limits. 

Business mailing addresses can be changed by contacting the City of Modesto Business License division at 209-577-5389.

2. Who needs a City of Modesto Business License?

Anyone that conducts business in the Modesto city limits is required to have a Business License. There are three different types of business licenses for doing business in the City of Modesto.

4. How do I close my Business License?

To close your license, a final Declaration of Gross Receipts form needs to be filed, reporting your final date of business, and all taxes and license fees paid. Contact the City of Modesto Business License division at 209-577-5389 or in person to find out the specific requirements for closing your business.
